Terms of service

These terms govern your use of SocialEavesdrop, its API, SDKs and website. By creating an account or using an API key you agree to them.

The service

SocialEavesdrop provides an API that returns publicly available social media and web data in a consistent format. Requests are fulfilled on demand through third-party data providers and platforms' official APIs. We do not log into platforms, and we do not return private accounts, private posts or direct messages. Operations may be added, changed or withdrawn; each one publishes its current state.

Accounts and keys

You are responsible for your account and for all use of your API keys. Keep keys secret and do not share them outside your organisation. One person or organisation may not open several accounts to collect trial credits.

Credits and payment

• Credits are bought in prepaid packs at the prices on the pricing page. They do not expire.
• Each request uses credits according to the published price of that operation. Cached answers cost nothing, and requests that fail on our side or upstream, or return nothing, are refunded in credits automatically.
• Credits can only be used on SocialEavesdrop. They have no cash value and cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged.
• Refunds of money are covered by the refund policy.

Acceptable use

Your use must follow the acceptable use policy, which forms part of these terms. In particular, you may not use the service to monitor, track or profile individual people.

Data

Platform data is provided as found, and we make no warranty about its accuracy, completeness or timeliness. Answers are held in a short cache and then expire; we keep no archive of platform data. You are responsible for your own lawful use of the data, including under data-protection law where you operate.

Availability

The service is provided as is. We aim to keep it available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and a source may stop answering at any time.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or the acceptable use policy. You may close your account at any time. Where an account is closed for a serious breach, remaining credits are forfeited unless the law requires otherwise.

Changes

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with its date, and tell account holders of material changes before they take effect.
